Philanthropy Chair Report
As the fall semester started, I began organizing ideas for fraters to help raise money for the Lustgarten foundation. So far, we had a fall bake sale with fall themed treats like pumpkin donuts and muffins! With the help of my committee, Val Maturi, Ava Vecchi, Madison Righi, Sydney Feeney, Sara Mustafi, Codi Boheen, and Janise Park, we are planning to host another event in the school of pharmacy where classmates can come paint mini pumpkins for halloween. With the help of our Directorum Ethan Yazdanpanah, our Excheque Kayla Barca, and our past Philanthropy Chair Val Maturi, we have been able to raise more than $2000 from Coins for a Cause to donate to Lustgarten! I’m planning on doing a Halloween photo contest with the chapter in which all proceeds that were used to enter will be donated to Lustgarten, too.
Since the beginning of the summer, I have been encouraging fraters to join our HuskyTHON team to raise money for Connecticut Children’s. Our team is currently at 19 members which is more involvement than last year! So far, we have raised about $2,000 through canning and facebook fundraisers. For the spring semester, I am planning to host more fundraisers and events for HuskyTHON on campus such as a super-bowl fundraiser in the School of Pharmacy lobby and a fundraiser with a local restaurant in Storrs. I plan to continue raising money for Lustgarten as well by doing another bake sale and a ribbon and wristband sale.
